The Movies Come to Firsts London

Undoubtedly one of last year's highlights was Neil Pearson's Alan Rickman Archive, consisting of signed books, annotated scripts, drawings, photos and much more from the collection of one of our greatest and best-loved actors.

This year Neil's movie-related highlights on Stand P08 include:

LOOK BACK IN ANGER. Richard Burton's scripts for the film, in two different drafts;

A SIGNED AND DATED DRAWING BY JOHN LENNON. Given as a thank-you gift to the documentary film maker Tony Palmer fifty years ago this year.

TRAINSPOTTING. The extremely rare hardcover edition, and a very fine copy.

Deborah Coltham (D08) has a first edition of one of the most important primary sourcebooks in the history of early cinema and film production - Le film vierge Pathé: manuel de développement et de tirage, 1926. Published by the leading producers of film stock, this contains not only technical information on the colouring systems used at the time by the motion picture industry, but is notable for including sets of illustrations made of actual pieces of original nitrate film.

York Modern (C11) has a rare edition (first edition, third impression), protected in a specially made folding box of Thea von Harbou's Metropolis, August Scherl, 1926. There are four stills from the film which was realised the following year, original printed wrappers with design by Werner Graul and two pages of publisher's adverts.
